Customer complaint

What the customer noticed

The customer reported that the HWH computerized hydraulic leveling system would not level the Tiffin Allegro Bus correctly when the automatic leveling function was used. The left-front hydraulic leveling jack was not extending far enough to reach the ground.

Diagnostic findings

What inspection and testing revealed

Inspection and operational testing identified two contributing issues. The HWH hydraulic reservoir was approximately one quart low on fluid, which limited the travel of the left-front leveling jack and prevented it from reaching the ground. The automatic leveling system also required recalibration so the controller could correctly recognize level and operate all four hydraulic jacks together.

Work performed or recommended

What Sunset did or recommended

Added approximately one quart of the appropriate ATF to the HWH hydraulic reservoir, inspected the HWH computerized leveling controls and hydraulic system, and recalibrated the automatic leveling system. The auto-level cycle was then operated repeatedly while monitoring each leveling jack for proper extension, retraction and coordinated movement.

Outcome and next step

Where the service call stands

After the reservoir was topped off and the HWH system was recalibrated, all hydraulic leveling jacks operated properly. Repeated testing confirmed that the Tiffin Allegro Bus automatically leveled correctly and consistently. The customer was advised to monitor system performance and hydraulic-fluid level and to schedule service if a jack becomes slow, fails to reach the ground or the coach no longer levels correctly.
