Customer complaint

What the customer noticed

The customer requested annual air-conditioner maintenance and help with two air-conditioning concerns, unreliable thermostat operation, and a furnace that would not operate correctly.

Diagnostic findings

What inspection and testing revealed

Inspection found a loose freeze sensor, poorly sealed ductwork that mixed supply and return air, fallen insulation restricting the main ducts, and a failing Dometic thermostat. The furnace sail switch was obstructed by dog hair, and the ignitor wire was severed.

Work performed or recommended

What Sunset did or recommended

Sunset cleaned the evaporator coils, condensate drain and weep-hole compartment; repositioned the freeze sensor; sealed the ductwork with HVAC foil tape; removed the airflow obstruction; and installed a new thermostat. The furnace sail switch was cleaned and the damaged ignitor wire was repaired.

Outcome and next step

Where the service call stands

Airflow and cooling performance were restored, the new thermostat controlled the system correctly, and the furnace fired and operated properly.
